NEWSLETTER Vol. 8

Dear Friends and Donors

The Green Scholarship Program is committed to “helping the students of Los Cabos achieve their dreams”. We have a total of 126 students who have graduated from the top private and public local universities.

Our community of Los Cabos is facing a real important issue, the lack of good quality education and available financial aid for students who don’t have the means to get a college education. While we are actively working on giving scholarships to some of these students, we need your help to make our efforts go even further!

You can help us be part of this effort. Your support is crucial to our efforts to improve the life of these young adults, who are eager to learn and better their quality of life.

We would like to ask you to share this newsletter with your friends and potential donors to support the GSP Foundation.

Thank you for your wonderful support!

Patricia Pratt-  Green Schoolarship Founder

The GSP (Green Scholarship Program, Programa de Becas Green A.C.) was established in 2006 by Patricia and Arturo Pratt to honor Patricia’s parents, Doris and Milton Green of Knoxville, Tennessee. This foundation was intended to reflect the value that these two hardworking parents placed on education and imparted in their children. Their legacy will be defined by the academic success and achievement of deserving students accepted into the program. The goal of the GSP, a

nonprofit 501-C-3 organization, is to provide a four-year college scholarship for high school graduates of Los Cabos and surrounding areas. The GSP is an educational division of the Charity Development of Los Cabos (CDLC) in the United States. The GSP strives to select students who have exhibited perseverance and determination for academic excellence. Funding for the GSP is obtained from various sources. The Green Scholarship Program recently held its annual Orientation celebration to present 22 new students with scholarships. The Green Scholarship Program (GSP) is a not-for-profit organization serving as an advocate for young people with the greatest need. The Program assists youth granting four-year scholarships for higher education.

The Green Scholarship Program provides much more than financial support; it also provides leadership skills to form active community members. The Green Scholarship Program believes in providing opportunities through education to empower disadvantaged young adults to improve economic circumstances and quality of life.

This is the 12th consecutive year that students have received university scholarships from the Green Scholarship Foundation; approximately 126 students have graduated since the inception of the program. Since last January, the scholarships have been promoted through the local media as well as the major public high schools in the region. The students are selected through certain evaluative criteria including grade average, character, leadership, and economic necessity.  The new students were chosen from the Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo area.
